Each SEAL Team can deploy in multiple Task Units with SEALs, SWCC, SDV, EOD, and Cryptological Support Units assigned to meet the mission. Many of these jobs are part of research, development, testing, and evaluation efforts to determine suitability for use by the DoD, DoN, and Special Warfare Communities. The base is situated with the San Diego Bay on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, making it a major Navy shore command and the home of West Coast special and expeditionary warfare operations.
