The charitable foundation of a 95-year-old millionaire philanthropist has awarded more than 200,000 achievement awards to young people, writes Charles Harrison. The Jack Petchey Foundation recognises that many of the fantastic opportunities that young people have access to simply wouldn’t exist without the incredible commitment of adult leaders. The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up by Sir Jack Petchey CBE to inspire and celebrate young people. The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up to inspire and motivate young people across London and Essex by providing exciting projects and programmes for them to get involved in. At the Jack Petchey Foundation we have a wide range of opportunities for schools, youth organisations and young people to be a part of. Bean Research conducted the study of the Jack Petchey Foundation, which was founded by Sir Jack Petchey in 1999, to celebrate the foundation’s 21st birthday. Since 2004, the Jack Petchey Foundation has invested over £800,000 in Panathlon’s work. Since 1999, over £133 million has been invested in programmes to benefit young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex. Our Leader Awards give young people the chance to recognise and say “thank you” to … Each year, over 250 schools are involved in London and Essex with tens of thousands of hours of sporting opportunities provided for over 4000 young disabled people … We have various schemes which recognise young people and leaders, and we offer grants to enhance learning further.
